Parham House & Gardens
Elizabethan house with walled garden and maze beneath the South Downs
About Parham House & Gardens
Parham is an Elizabethan country house set in parkland at the foot of the South Downs, between Pulborough and Storrington. Begun in 1577 and still a family home, it is owned by a charitable trust and opens to visitors on selected days from spring to autumn. Inside, rooms such as the Long Gallery display collections of paintings, furniture and historic needlework. Outside, a four-acre walled garden with herbaceous borders, a vegetable garden and orchard sits alongside pleasure grounds with a lake and a brick and turf maze. The estate also hosts seasonal events such as plant fairs and exhibitions. Check the website for current dates before travelling.
